Research, Publications & Clinical Interests:

I specialize in work with survivors of violence, people with disabilities, and in palliative care, with current research interests in Feminist Music Therapy and its use for empowerment.

Speaking Engagements:

I speak regularly nationally and internationally on issues related to my research, publications and clinical interests. Most recently I highlight findings from my book, “Music for Women (Survivors of Violence)” on how women can use music/music therapy for personal growth and empowerment, and how women survivors can use music to recover from the harm of abuse.

Beyond #MeToo Project

The Beyond #MeToo Project is a participatory action research project designed to eliminate male violence against women. This project culminated in a film that explores the use of music to challenge our culture of male violence against women. It captures the experiences of Concordia university music therapy professor and students/alumni as they listen to women’s stories in pop culture and then create their own songs and music videos giving voice to their own understanding of male violence..
